Are You Wasting Your Life?

The other night I had a dream and in that dream God showed me all the times in my life that I whined and whinged and complained.  He showed me all the times I judged other people and the times I criticized people and he showed me when I said cruel things about others.  It was more like a nightmare!  I asked God, “Why are you showing me this?” He simply said, “I need to show you that you’ve wasted a third of your life arguing and fighting and complaining.”

Friends, our time on this earth is very short and I feel so foolish for wasting so much time fussing and fighting.  How many people could I have helped instead of hindered?  How many people could I have built up instead of bashed down?  To how many people could I have been kind to instead of being cruel?  Show me a person all wrapped up in themselves and I’ll show you a very small package indeed.  My grandma used to say, “Nigel, it’s far better to ease into a conversation than to rush into an argument.”

“I need to show you that you’ve wasted a third of your life arguing and fighting and complaining.”

There is never a good time for an argument but there is always a good time for kind conversation. The highest form of communication is listening.  Listening leads to understanding, understanding leads to compassion.  Compassion is the driving force behind kindness.  Every act of kindness you do is a treasure to the other person.  Friends we are all on a journey and on our journey we have a choice.  We have the choice to leave a trail of trash behind us or we can leave a trail of treasure.  What will you leave behind?

Jesus said it best in that ancient book of wisdom and revelation “The Bible.”  You can read it in Galatians 6:9
“let us not grow weary in well doing (being kind), for in due time we will reap a harvest, if we do not give up. Amen!

So be encouraged today for this world will surely test you on this.  Choose kindness and love people.  If every one of the 7 billion people on this planet would follow these words of Jesus what a beautiful world this would be!  Be brave today and say those kind words to people and love those around you.  Leave some treasure everywhere you go. God bless you heaps  Pastor Nigel
